Our Founder: John Garnett, Jr.
Garnett Heating & Air was founded in 1957 by John Garnett Jr. Mr. Garnett; a World War II veteran, created the company in order to provide commercial refrigeration & heating services to Fredericksburg businesses & residences. At that time, central air conditioning systems in houses were very rare & the luxury of year round climate control was mostly reserved for downtown department stores & movie theaters.
He continued to lead the business as it incorporated in 1973 & in 1980 became an authorized dealer for General Electric Weathertron Heat Pumps & Air Conditioners. Shortly after, the Trane Company purchased the General Electric air conditioning division & began mass marketing residential air conditioning systems.
In 1987, Garnett Heating & Air moved from Route 3 to its current location at 9821 Courthouse Road in
Spotsylvania County where it is still owned and operated by the Garnett family.

Today, Garnett Heating & Air is a fully insured; Class A Mechanical Contractor, HVAC Licensed & NATE Certified. The Garnett family continues to own & operate the business that provides heating and air conditioning installation, repair and maintenance services for both residential and commercial customers. Garnett also provides indoor air quality systems, energy saving digital thermostats, commercial refrigeration repair and maintenance, commercial ice maker repair and maintenance and air duct fabrication services. It is staffed with over thirty highly trained professionals providing design, engineering & installation of heating, air conditioning & ventilation systems for commercial buildings & custom homes. Commercial refrigeration service is also provided for food service operations, restaurants, convenience stores & distribution centers.
